چکیده

Experimental conditions were as follows: MgS04 , 10 pmoles; L-ornithine, 5 rmoles; glycylglycine, pH 7.5, 50 pmoles; NHIHC03, 5 Fmoles; ATP, 5 pmoles; phosphoenolpyruvate, 5 pmoles; ornithine transcarbamylase (beef liver) 17 units; phosphoenolpyruvate kinase, 513 Biicher units; frog liver carbamyl phosphate synthetase, 0.1 ml (0.825 mg); final volume, 1.00 ml; incubation for 15 minutes at 37”. N-Acetyl-L-glutamate and DLZacetoxyglutarate added in amounts as indicated. The reaction was stopped by the addition of 5 ml of 0.5 N perchloric acid and the protein removed by centrifugation. An aliquot of the supernatant solution was analyzed according to the method of Archibald (8).

Studies on the Induction and Repression of Enzymes in Rat Liver II. CARBOHYDRATE REPRESSION OF DIETARY AND HORMONAL INDUCTION OF THREOKINE DEHYDRASE AND ORNITHINE &TRANSAMINASE*

Previous reports from this laboratory (2, 3) have described the rapid induction of threonine dehydrase and ornithine transaminase in rat liver by the force feeding of casein hydrolysate. Preliminary evidence that this induction was repressed by dietary glucose, but not by dietary fat, was also presented (2). The present paper includes a comparison of the induction patterns obtained by casein hy...

Studies on the Induction and Repression of Enzymes in Rat Liver

The effects of cortisone on the dietary induction and repression of serine dehydrase, ornithine transaminase, and tyrosine transaminase were studied. In rats pretreated with cortisone dietary induction was affected relatively little, but carbohydrate repression was largely eliminated. The effects of cortisone and phenobarbital on the dietary induction of serine dehydrase and ornithine transamin...

Rat liver glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase. Regulation by carbohydrate diet and insulin.

Rates of rat liver glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase synthesis and degradation in vivo have been measured by following the time course for the induction of the enzyme by carbohydrate diets and insulin. I f rats previously adapted to a commercial pellet diet are fed a 60% carbohydrate diet, the rate of glucose-6-P dehydrogenase synthesis increases up to 80-fold, and the first order rate constant...

Inhibition by catecholamines of the induction of rat liver glucokinase.

Epinephrine, norepinephrine, and isoproterenol prevent the induction of rat liver glucokinase (EC 2.7.1.2) produced by the administration of glucose to animals with low levels of the enzyme. The low levels of glucokinase were obtained by feeding the animals a carbohydrate-free diet for 6 days. When epinepbrine was given 4 hours after the administration of carbohydrate there was only a slight in...
